The journal "Vestnik Arheologii, Antropologii i Etnografii" was published since 1997 as an almanac. In 2004, it was registered as a print publication and journal, and in 2007, as an online publication. The journal is published four times a year in Russian with article summaries in English. "Vestnik Arheologii, Antropologii i Etnografii" publishes research, theoretical, and informational works on archaeology, anthropology, ethnography, and related disciplines. The main sections "Archaeology," "Anthropology," and "Ethnology" include both analytical works and articles representing comprehensive publications of materials from specific archaeological sites, anthropological series, and ethnographic collections. The journal is aimed at professional scholars—archaeologists, university professors, and historians of material culture. Articles based on the analysis of materials obtained as a result of legal archaeological work (based on an open sheet as a special permit from government agencies) or stored in the State Museum Fund are accepted for publication. The journal considers amateur collecting of antiquities as an activity contrary to the European Convention on the Protection of the Archaeological Heritage, Russian legislation, and concepts of ethics in science. The "Archaeology" section publishes articles devoted to the characteristics of the sites and cultures of Northern Eurasia from the Stone Age to the Modern Period inclusive. The published studies are devoted to the examination of various aspects of ancient societies — paleoeconomics, paleoecology, social processes, historical and cultural ties, and problems of dating monuments. Some publications are based on the study of archaeological artifacts using interdisciplinary methods of the natural and technical sciences. The "Anthropology" section publishes articles on craniology, odontology, osteometry, paleopathology; Articles prepared using interdisciplinary methods in anthropology, including paleogenetics, paleodemography, and population structure, are considered. The "Ethnography" section prioritizes works on ethnological and socio-anthropological topics, and includes materials from interdisciplinary research (historical-ethnographic, cultural-anthropological, and ethnosociological), as well as articles devoted to theoretical and methodological issues on the topics of identity, ethnic history, intercultural interaction, life support, adaptation processes, migration, religion, and historical and cultural heritage. Some issues of the journal include "Reviews" and "Chronicle" sections. The Journal is issued 4 times per year.

The Journal publishes articles in Russian with comprehensive English-language abstracts and in English with comprehensive Russian-language abstracts. For foreign authors submitting their works in English, assistance is provided regarding the translation of the article metadata into Russian. The Journal provides immediate open access to its content according to its Open Access policy.
