On genesis of a mediaeval population from Surgut Ob area (basing on craniological discoveries from Ust-Balyk cemetery)

A problem of genesis to an anthropological look of East Khanty remains highly controversial. A considerable contribution into a solution of this problem is made by the study of paleoatnthropological discoveries from mediaeval cemeteries. One of such unique sites being Ust-Balyk cemetery from Nefteyugank District, Khanty-Mansi national region, Tyumen Oblast. The study of craniological discoveries from the said cemetery showed that the Ust-Balyk paleopopulation, taken in its basic morphological features, is just slightly different from the groups which formation proceeded mainly on the territory of the south West Siberian tretiary zone of race formation, and which are associated with a Samodian line of genesis.
